KID-ism: Falling in Mud

My kids constantly play with the bazillion little (Matchbox, Hot Wheels, etc.) cars that we’ve accumulated over the years.  Whatever chance they get, they pull them out and set them up all over the floor and subject them to all sorts of imaginative play.  And, the other day while we were having a big car-fest in the office/piano room, I had this little exchange with my daughter.

DAUGHTER:  Look, Mom!  My cars are falling in mud.

ME:  Oh, no.  Falling in mud?  Are they going to get stuck?

DAUGHTER:  No.  They are going to give each other a kiss and get married.

ME:  Huh?

DAUGHTER:  They’re going to get married because they’re falling in mud.

ME (giggling):  Honey, do you mean “falling in love”?

DAUGHTER:  Yes, falling in love.  That’s what I said.
